the first post….. so filled with complex and seemingly contradictory feeling….intimidating yet promising - wide open and yet limited to whatever i can pack in here in a few words - as a culture - we are very interested and somewhat obsessed with our ‘firsts’ - we document our first everything - first steps - first partner - first sexual experience - first love - first heartache - first apartment - first first first first - a society filled with people obsessively attempting to remember what things felt like when they were new - when we couldn’t possibly imagine what life was going to be like ‘after’ - always wanting to taste those moments like they were on the top of our collective tongues…. but there is something about investing so much in these random moments of our lives - something about trying to make them whatever we imagine them to be - something that has me wondering what it is about us that wants to make the first the best…. what about the middle - what about the third, fourth, tenth, two hundredth time we do something - where does that fit in - how do you continue to survive in a world where almost everything you do - every moment of your life is not a first - today was my 9,965th day on this earth - i have lived through 6 leap years - 4 presidents - two wars - two centuries - three decades and ALOT of nose bleeds - and you know what - the firsts are what make the second, third and fourth that much more fun - the first time i saw the life aquatic AND the royal tennenbaums i hated them both - it was in the second, third, fourth and fifth times watching that they made sense - that they reached into the depths of my soul and grabbed hold -

so i am no wes anderson - dont get your hopes up for that - but know that the first post is as significant as each and every one to follow - and that somewhere along the way both you and i will have a favorite - and you and i will share ideas - and that this moment may not be the best - but it serves its purpose nonetheless -
